I was working at the enquiry desk at Cowley Police station one night (as a PC) when a young soldier came in looking very perturbed.

He said that his car had broken down and that he had to be back in his barracks at Aldershot by 6.00am.

I asked if he was in the AA or RAC ?

He thought for a moment then replied:

"No I'm in the Logistics Regiment !"

We got him a breakdown service and off he went. We also rang his barracks and confirmed his story.
